Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“Republicans dealt Texas a deep moral wound. They haven’t just been cheating to gain an edge in a political game. They’ve been deliberately holding back Texans from having a voice in their own government. A voice that affects every aspect of our lives.

“As our former President Lyndon B. Johnson once said: ‘It is wrong—deadly wrong—to deny any of your fellow Americans the right to vote in this country.’

“For years now, irreparable damage has been done. Texas’ diverse new majority has been shut out, but soon change will come. In time, justice prevails.”
